Creating Mayhem   3 comments

I’m good at it 😉 Creating Mayhem i mean……

In this post i’m using 5 computers running Smaart V8 connected to 5 different speakers ( 2 x RM25ac 2 x RM28ac 1 FA28ac and 4 x RX699 set to factory presets) via a Soundweb Blu160 + BOP1 running custom FIR files to correct the different crossover points/High-pass Filters between the 4 Speaker models.

The RM25ac has 1 2nd order All-pass filter to match with the RM28ac which was my target speaker for the 9.0 surround set-up i have available at my company.

There are no Subs in this particular set-up since the RM25ac runs from +/- 24 to 28Hz so subs would only be causing more challenges and i do not have room for 2 extra large speakers in the demo room where this set-up lives.

The FA28ac has a custom fir file for correcting the phase respons to the target speaker the RM28ac.

The RX699 are not used in the screen captures since i have to run those directly via the Marantz AV thing to get the Surround from a DVD/BLUE-Ray player. When i got around to tuning the set-up they were running and doing a pretty good job for such a small loudspeaker……

So in the end the set-up for the video’s looked like this:

test multiple sources random pseudorandom cmplex polar

Looks kinda crazy but the challenge was to get 5 generators set to Pseudorandom Pink Noise instead of Random Pink Noise something that doesn’t exist in the “BSS BLU160 world” but does exist in “Smaart world”.

Here are the screen-shots from Smaart (different colours as in the video for viewing purposes).

Here’s the video on the 5 Smaart V8 Set-up’s running each loudspeaker first solo and after that all speakers on with separate source signals from 5 different computers.

Generator settings on al 5 computers: Pseudorandom Pink Noise 512K Cycle

Transfer Option settings on al 5 computers: Mag Avg Type > Complex

Enjoy and Stay Safe
