Working On FIR Again.

Started to experiment with the new version of FIR Designer V2.1. It has a couple of new features (at least new to me).

With FIR Designer it’s possible to load data from Smaart V8 (MTW traces) and write FIR coefficients.

After that you can save the FIR filter to a number of file types for processors/amps able to “do FIR processing”.

Here’s a little taste of what’s possible with this powerful tool.

By the way i’m just starting so if there are mistakes i’m sorry……(for me making mistakes is the fastest way to learn 😉 ).

The first screen capture is a 2 way active system. I’ve used this system for a lot of screen captures but this time it came out a bit better then previous experiments. (the 3 mics show a more similar response).

The second capture is a passive 2 way coaxial system. I had to get my head around this FIR thing and it being able to modify the phase and magnitude response without the need for all kinds of exotic filters.

As soon as i have time i’ll do another capture on a 2 way passive speaker with a conventional low driver and a horn (so a non coax design).
